Kids Day at the office...
Oh holy hell... it is a frickin' mad house up in this piece!
Not only has being here for the past 2 hours made my uterus curl up and die inside me (I'm NOT having kids!!!)... I have a headache to boot.
My office is hosting their annual Creative Kids Day so that the company feels they are making a contribution. What they are really doing is feeding kids hot dogs and having a guy from the AV center run around dressed like Sponge Bob. Honestly.
We will now return to a special addition of Office etiquette: Bringing Kids to work.
KEEP THEM QUIET!! Those of us who didn't bring our kids (or who will now never have any) still have to get shit done today. I understand if an infant is involved, keeping them quiet isn't an option... but at least go into another area, or for god sake... shut your damn office door. And if you have toddlers + then you need to have a talking to w/ them regarding using their indoor voices. My lord they are screaming bloody murder 2 feet from me.
KEEP THEM CLOSE TO YOU... NO RUNNING AROUND. Dude... this is an office, not a jungle gym. There are activities outside for them to do, but instead they are running around the cubicles and throwing knumchucks (paper clips, balls-o-tape) around here like the are Jackie Chan. No thank you please.
DON'T TAKE THEM ON A TOUR... THEY DON'T GIVE A RAT'S ASS!! All they came here to do was eat and play. Don't parade them around and introduce them to EVERYONE in the damn building. Yes, you want to show them off to your friends, fine... do so... but I don't know you, why on earth do you think I want to meet your kids. I feel like this please is a Zoo. Not only because there are a million jam-stained-sticky little hands touching everything, but being in my cube, I feel like I'm on desplay. "Look little Bobby and Timmy... this here is a Coordinator-saurus. She won't attack unless provoked... wait... she's turning around... oh no! The red one is gonna get us! RUN!" Yes, that's what I wish would happen... but to my dismay, I must not lash out. It is not the kid's fault that he/she is annoying. It is their parent's fault. Hee!
I know I wasn't a perfect angel when I was visiting my parents' work places... but I didn't have to work then, and I do now... so there.
SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I'm trying to work!!!!

It seems to me your bitch should be with office policy of bring your kid to work. First it is unrealistic to ask a child to sit and be quiet for an extended period of time. Now for short period I am in agreement with you. Kids want to know what mom and dad do all day, so bring them is a good Idea. It helps in developing your relationship with your child. I belive that it should limit the time so as to be fare to the children and the adults.
