Banana Clips
Ok... are we all in agreement here that banana clips have been out since the early 90s (in not late 80s)? Well, I have to say, I have seen (to my dismay) numerous ladies sporting these atrocities around the office.
Dress codes at offices are inevitable. All of the cute new college interns and new hires straight from graduation. 22, fabulous, ass like steel, stomachs to bounce a quarter off of, guy w/ hot pecks and huge bicepts (well not anyone I know... but still). These are the people for which dress codes are in place. The company wants everyone to look professional: no clevage, no midrifs, no flip flops (unless you are on the creative side... here in advertising world), no funky colored hair, and a new addition, no jeans! I mean, for those of you who know me, I don't where denim to begin with, but damn... fridays should be casual.
Ok... my point, and I do have one.... is that while these are in place to make us look professional, how can some of these older ladies get away w/ wearing troipical flowered capries that look like Toucan Sam threw up on them? And the banana clips! My lord, the banana clips. I can't take the circa 1990 look. She may as well attach a "I love Jordan Knight" pin to her shoulder-padded blazer in bright green and call it a day. Sheesh!
Dress codes should not be age biased. If I can't show a little clevage (I'm single now... I need to attract me a man!), then clip lady should surrender her eye-numbingly-loud outfits. "Quid Pro Quo" as my friend Dr. Lecter would say.
And... I'm out!
