An oldie, but goodie...

I used to write on another blog site. Basically is was the same sort of thing, except before I was complaining about school, not work. I look back on it now and just have to laugh. I had is MADE back in college. I didn't have to work, I didn't have class before noon, I could wear my PJs all day/everyday, and I was only stressed about a handful of times per semester (w/ papers and tests) Here is one of my favorite ones from back in the day (i.e. last years ;-) ) Enjoy!

OOOOOOOH man.....

Ok..... so here is something I have been noticing and am beginning (or shall I say continuing) to be annoyed with. In class, I have become very aware of the use/misuse of the word "Like". It is pressing on my last nerve. How and why did this word become a filler word in sentences? It is almost as if every sentence is a similie. And I hate it!!!

Seriously, go to your next class and listen as one of your fellow COLLEGE STUDENTS answers a question or give an opinion (usually a female, unfortunately). Here is an example of a day in the life of my advanced essays class:

"So like I feel that like there should be like regulations on things that like cause harm to like all people. I like think that like there are government like forces that like we need to like deal with."

COME ON!!!! I once was in Spanish class and the teacher asked a question and someone was supposed to answer in Spanish (obviously), so one girl raised her hand and was attempting to answer. Between every other word or so, as she was trying to firgure out in her mind the translation of what she wanted to say, she was saying "like". I almost died!!!

Now, I am not saying that I myself have never been guilty of this annoyance, but I have kept it under control since middle school.

The message that I am sending out to you people is to PLEASE pay attention. If you lose your train of thought or need a milasecond to think of a word in mid-sentence, please take a pause instead of using filler words. When you get a job, I guaruntee that your boss won't be starting off a meeting by saying: "Ok like we all need to like sit down and come up with some like new ideas to um, you know, like get things working."

Happy Trails to you...... until we meet again!!!
