Hair disaster!

I went to a wedding on Friday, so I decided I should get my hair done so that I wouldn't have the stress of doing it myself on that day. Great idea in theory... I know. So I tell the stylist that I'd like loose curls, not a lot of hair spray, wearing my hair half up/half down. Simple, right?

She took my direction as "spray as much hair spray into her hair as the ozone will allow, burn her hair into tight ringlets, pin it up so it stands 2 feet above her head". Nice! Basically by the time the massacre was over, I looked like I belonged at the Country Music Awards back in 1986! My hair looked horrendous! Then the real kicker... "That will be $60..."

Imagine my jaw hitting the floor. Now this salon is pretty good, but I can get my hair cut there for just about $30, and that takes much longer than styling someone's hair. I was flabbergasted. I meekly paid the bill and left. The second my car door closed behind my mound of a wig... the tears began to flow. Now I realize that is a tad infantile, to cry when my hair doesn't look right, but damnit! $60 is a LOT to me!!! Believe me, I did try to get her to fix it, but she just wasn't HEARING what I was saying. In order to rectify the situation, she would have had to wash my hair and start over.

So I went home and washed it out (washed meaning I had to shampoo it THREE times to get all the hair spray out). In the end my hair looked fine the way I did it and I was ready on time (barely). Moral of the story is... please ask for the price before agreeing to the style (my honest mistake). AND make sure you speak up from the SECOND the stylist begins to deviate from your vision. With the first squirt of hair spray and burn of the curling iron I should have said something... but I guess I trusted she knew what she was doing...

... my mistake...
