TX is a sauna!

Geez! I swear I couldn't breathe down there. The second my plane landed the windows immediately fogged up. The pilot said it was a cool 70 degrees... but damn it al to hell, it felt like 100. The air is just so thick, I wasn't expecting it. It was like being hit w/ a hot damp sock right in the grill. Ouch!

So I just got back from visiting one of my bestest friends, Rachel (also known as G) in the Rio Grande Valley. As I have said before, I went to visit her and speak in her 9th grade English classrooms. It now must be said, any thought or even slight inclination to be a teacher has been shot, dis-membered, and buried deep beneath the earth! I give her and all you other teachers out there SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much respect. There is no way I would have been able to survive that day after day... and I had another adult in the room.

Some of her classes were well behaved, but there were a few that just wouldn't shut up. I know every school has a random trouble maker in each class, but imagine 3 entire classes FULL of these kids? I wanted to swear... but I couldn't think of the words in Spanish. O-well. Rachel, if you are reading... I love you have will think of you every time I think my job sucks.

On another note, it was so weird seeing a friend at their real job. I mean, I was sitting there listening to her talk... and actually being a teacher... and thinking "who the hell let us be in charge of a classroom???" It is such an odd feeling to be the ADULTS. Damn, I'm still at the kid table for Thanksgiving... I still feel like I am in 8th grade thinking about what I want to be when I grow up, then I hear myself talking in meetings w/ clients and executives in the company, advising them on how we should proceed and I'm amazed.

I really AM grown up... who knew? ;-)

It does seem as if adulthood just creeps up on you, and you wonder how you got where are. Sometimes it is nice to be back at that kids table, where you don't have to worry about anything, if not just for a day. I am glad your trip went well.
