Carry-on Luggage
I don't trust the airlines anymore. Too many fucking times I have been left at the baggage carousel waiting and waiting for my generic-looking suitcase to drop only to be stood up in a sense by Northwest (or some other airline... it honestly doesn't matter which).
I think one of the worst jobs (besides being Britney Spears' publisist... what a mess) would be to work at the claims counter for an airline. Damn are people irritable (me included). When my possessions are not in my... err.... Possession, I get ticked. When all tags are clearly labeled, how can something like this happen time and time again? Sure mistakes happened, but why so often, and why to the SAME damn people?
I have no resorted to only bringing a carry on if feasible. By feasible, I mean that I will only be traveling for a couple of days. I will be going to Texas to visit a friend of mine this weekend and I have a layover in Dallas. The term "layover" is latin for "your shit WON'T be on your connecting flight... so be prepared to file a claim and spend the weekend borrowing a toothbrush". Since this is the case, I will bring my new PINK carry on. Yes, less stuff will make the 1500 mile (?) trek w/ me... but I will be happy to know that my essentials will NOT leave my side. I have a fear though that I will try to get on the plane and they will tell me my bag is too big and I'll have to check it (in lieu of Greg Focker in MEET THE PARENTS). I will freak the fuck out if that happens.
Wish me luck peeps!
Peace

If I can take some liberty and para phrase from the movie office space "People are doing a job just enough not to get fired." Not to excel or even sometimes to be average. You can maybe blame management, or the companyit self, or maybe the over unionization of the industry. Personally I think society as a whole is to blame. There is the attitude out there that you don't have to perform, you are just owed something form employers, form government, form anybody you can pin it on. Unfortunity there are too few people who hold soceity accountable. So it is society who loses your luggage, so each of us is to blame, in some way either by taking a short cut, instead of doing it the right way, or looking the other way when someone elses takes a short cut because we don't want to get involved.
Almost forgot. Have fun in Dallas, hopefully all goes smoothly for you.
