Oprah was ALL up in his grill!

Oh lord!
Please tell me y'all saw the Oprah show heard round the world? It was amazing. I TiVoed it, since I was at work when her live taping aired.
If you have not heard, Oprah had James Frey, author of A Million Little Pieces, Oprah's last Book Club pick, on her show again to confront him about his lies and deceptions. I have to say, it was a massacre! I think Oprah was honest and fair (of course I'm going to take Oprah's side!!!) and gave James a chance to come clean. I was disappointed to see him still backpedaling, only admitting to out and out lying near the last 2 mins of the taping. I'd hate to see what the After Show was like.
James addressed his discrepancies when probed, but he was not going to reveal anything else besides what thesmokinggun.com found. Oprah also had the publisher from Doubleday on to defend herself. She admitted that they did not have a fact checker on the book before it went to press. She said it has passed the litmus test of her "believing it sounded real." Dude, that is the job of writers, to make even the most unbelievable stories sound real. Poor lady was caught in the shit-throwing storm, but still didn't get it from Oprah as bad as I thought she should.
Oprah also had on the Washington Post columnist who wrote THIS about her call-in on Larry King Live, defending James. Oprah had to swallow her pride and apologize to the audience and the millions watching for calling in to that show. She said it made it seem like she was saying the truth wasn't important.
It was hard to watch. James was squirming in his chair. He mentioned something to Oprah during the commercial break about "...hope there's a gun backstage." I mean, the boy lied, it IS a big deal. We rely on the publishers to fact check and define the categories or the books. They obviously didn't do that, therefore Doubleday should be held responsible too.
Go back and read my initial opinion on this in my "Trust Me On This" blog. Hee Hee. Cross promotion!
All I have to say is that I hope I'm never on Oprah's bad side. She was all over him. She did everything short of rolling up a newspaper and smacking him on the nose!
