Oprah is better than you!

She truly is! I mean, I know many don't like her because she acts like she is Christ herself, or that sometimes she gets up on a soap box to preach her beliefs...

...but so what?!? She has been on air for, what has it been now, 20 years. She has done so much good, donating to causes and charities, making people's dreams come true, giving away free cars (free cars people!!)(p.s... i know Pontiac actually donated the cars, but damn, she orchestrated the whole ordeal), and is now helping find child molesters (and is succeeding more than the FBI has).

Yes, it is true that many of us in our own lives help do this (w/ the exception of the cars) and probably could and would do more if we had "Oprah Money", but she has gone above and beyond what someone in her position has to do. People can say all the mean things about Oprah as they like, but my feelings will stay the same. Oprah... you complete me! hahahaha

I am a little disappointed w/ this season thus far (w/ a few exceptions). She has been featuring too many celebrities and not enough issues. She is only 2 months into the season and I'll bet 95% of her episodes were w/ celebs. Now, y'all know I love the celebs and celeb gossip... but my Oprah Time is a time for substance. Yes I read the news and read books and learn... but Oprah teaches me to think deeper and make a difference.

I was thinking the other day (surprise surprise! ha), and thought of a good premise for a book. The character could be an author trying to get her book onto Oprah's book club. You think I'd be able to get onto Oprah's bookclub w/ a premise like that? hahahaha I would hope so! Check for it in bookstores in Dec. 2006 (j/k). My dream is to one day achieve that. Yes, a Noble Prize would be nice, but being on Oprah's book club... now THAT is some exposure. The book she recently picked has risen to the top of every major booklist out there (including New York Times).

Oprah really does make dreams come true...

P.s... my first day in the new position is tomorrow. I am so excited! Mostly for the bigger paycheck... but for the experience too, I guess.

and I am one of those reasons her new pick is number one!!! I said one day, man, when is Oprah going to pick a new book for her book club. Then, later that day, but what do I discover in my inbox?? An email showcasing the new pick for Oprah's book club! And it is good so far. It's nice reading about someone's experience going through detox, I can relate. Kind of, but not really.

I think people dislike Oprah because she is out spoken, not because of the things she does in the community. I certainly don't deny she has a right to be out spoken about things. Often times it rubs people the wrong way, even if you are of the same mind. Thier are many who make a difference, with out all the fan fare. Making a different in someone's life doesn't require a lot of money it just takes motivation. They rarely turn volunteers at the local food bank. Volunteering to stand in front of a store to raise money for a women's shelter. Most philanthropic organizations, such as the Kiwanians, Rotarians, etc etc, face a major youth crises at this time. They can't get new members and thier membership is dieing off. These organizations are often the ones support the local charities. With so much Aide needed because of the resent disasters, many local charities are suffering, because the fund raising dollars are going else where.

I am sure my politics are a bit right of Oprah's, and I am very much left of Pat Roberts. Frankly I don't want to hear what either of them has to say, even though I acknowledge they have a right to say it.

It is ok to maybe dream about being on Oprah book club. Dreams are good. Just keep in mind the child in need who is dreaming of Christmas, or maybe just the next meal. It doesn't take that much to give it too them, you would be surprised.

Good luck on the job, you will be great.
